Guided Journaling - The Inner Circle
What if there was a way of ring-fencing an hour just for you to sit down and journal, guided by an experienced journal coach?
What if you could be surrounded by other journalers who can support and inspire you?
What is the Inner Circle?
I designed the Inner Circle to be a bit like a virtual campfire.
Somewhere to sit down and let go. Let go of all the “shoulds” and the “not-yet-done” lists. A place to slow down and reflect; to recognise what is working and what you’re grateful for, alongside what you’re struggling with and what you’d like to change.
The Inner Circle is a place of compassion, curiosity and courage. Each weekly class is a space of safety and non-judgement and the online community is one of support and encouragement.
Live Guided Journaling Classes: What to expect
The hour-long class is split into four parts.
-
Arriving
-
Exploring
-
Connecting
-
Emerging and making meaning
Arriving
We gather on Zoom, say “hi” and then very quickly we begin with three minutes of free writing, just like in Journal Safari. When the three minutes is up, I will invite you to “create some space” by taking some mindful breaths and by stretching and moving, before you re-read what you’ve written. Each week I will nudge you to pay attention in a particular way to what has emerged on the paper; encouraging you to notice patterns, repetition and newness.
Exploring
This part mirrors Part 2 in Journal Safari and is usually a different journal prompt than those in the book. I might ask you to brainstorm, write lists, doodle or draw. Most months we have a theme that we look at in different ways in each class. Past themes have included: self-compassion, creativity, difficult feelings, habits and gratitude. Each month I will introduce you to new journaling techniques that expand and deepen the way you write and reflect
Connecting
This fifteen to twenty minute part of the class is when you get to work with some of your fellow journalers in a private breakout room. Sometimes you will be in pairs, sometimes there will be three or four of you. Over the weeks, you will get to meet different members of the Inner Circle and will get to know them through the structured conversations you have related to what has emerged in the Exploring part of the class.
Emerging and making meaning
When you return to the whole group, we have time for questions or shared insights and we always allow time for some more writing, to close the loop and leave the class with clarity and calm.
Something important to know...
There is absolutely no pressure at all to share the content of your writing, or even to share any of your thoughts and feelings in the open group. When you are in your break-out groups, you only share what you feel comfortable sharing. Listening and learning from others is as important as anything else – and is where you discover that you are not alone; we all have similar feelings bubbling below the surface!
What else is included?
There is a private space in our online community just for paid members. Here you will find the archive of all the classes, so if you miss a class or want to access more guided journaling in between the weekly classes, then you can.
We also have private Q&A and comment threads so you can follow up on topics we’ve covered in class or ask new questions and know that only paid members who you have met will be able to see and engage with them.
DID YOU KNOW... Circle members get 50% off Coaching?!
Yes! You'll also get 50% off 1-2-1 coaching with me and reduced rates for specialist masterclasses and events that we run from time to time.
